The Girls in Tech Mentorship Program focuses on the engagement, education, and empowerment of influential women in technology and entrepreneurship. These foci are at the core of our mentorship philosophy, which targets professional women as well as our next generation of women around the world. GIT M takes a three-tiered approach to programming in an effort to create valuable interactions across demographics. Each of these programs is meant to work with each other whenever possible:
GIT M also highlights the benefits of “reverse mentorship” – learning from those less experienced than yourself – and “sponsorship” – taking a more active approach to mentorship by purposefully creating opportunities and opening doors for mentees.
Each program is detailed below.
Focused on entrepreneurial/intrapreneurial women who hope to hone their business skills, as well as increase key technical skills needed to advance in the workplace.
This program not only includes skill-building elements, but also a developed mentorship network that focuses on leadership, career enhancement and encouragement, while also opening doors and creating advancement opportunities.
We have special programs that serve underprivileged populations, providing them access to training and mentorship that increase their opportunities to advance their careers.
GIT U is a program that focuses on attracting and retaining future female talent in the technical fields, providing crucial career advice and networking, and introducing entrepreneurial skills that will benefit students as they enter the professional world.
Participating universities develop their own Chapters under the guidance of our Global executive team, and, when possible, alongside existing GIT Chapters. Members can choose to be paired directly with someone in their desired field for one-on-one mentorship opportunities, and can also choose to serve as mentors to our GIT NX constituent.
GIT NX focuses on the next generation of girls in technology and STEM fields in an effort to increase knowledge and enthusiasm for the fields, as well as empower young girls who are interested in entering them.
Programming includes workshops in various technology and STEM fields – coding, mobile development, engineering, etc – as well as the development of entrepreneurial and leadership skills.
Each GIT NX location works closely with existing GIT Chapters for programming, and participants also have the option to be paired with professional women and/or GIT U members for further one-on-one interactions
