Girls in Tech Global Classroom, our popular virtual coding class, is back! The next session kicks off at the end of this month. We’re opening our virtual doors to more girls and women than ever and yes, it’s still FREE to join!
This is your opportunity to build the tech skills you need to create a professional website. Women around the world are welcome to join us as we take participants through a rigorous WordPress course. The biggest requirement? You just need a computer, and an internet connection. We’ll take care of the rest.
“WordPress is easy to pick up for someone who has never done any technical work,” says Ishita Mandhan, program director. “It’s a good way to break the ice and get to build a tech product that is real and tangible. Once students begin seeing the output of their work, it motivates them to learn the programming languages and behind the scenes happenings.”
Here’s the deal: we’re opening up two more sessions: October 30 – December 22, and November 6 to December 29. Due to the interest in the most recent sessions, we’re expecting to take on 1,000 women for these fall/winter sessions.
Global Classroom is a technical eight-week course on “How to Make a Website with WordPress.org Open API” complete with training material, assignments, and opportunities for discussion. The course is entirely self-paced.
If you’re interested, there’s no need to be intimidated. Past students have ranged from ages 8 to 64. Plus, the lessons are available any time, so you get to learn whenever it best suits your schedule.
If interested, here’s what you need to be set up for success:
- Access to a computer with a web browser and internet
- Basic familiarity with a computer
- Basic familiarity with a web browser
- General understanding of how the web works, as a user
