Girls in Tech is bringing the excitement and magic of Havana Nights, straight to San Francisco! It all happens November 17, at our second annual fundraising gala, an exclusive evening designed to reflect on our accomplishments throughout the year, ramp up for the future, and recognize some incredible leadership in technology.
Our most critical event of the year
Every single dollar raised from this event goes to support Girls in Tech’s innovative programming around the globe. Girls in Tech—now more than 60,000 members strong, across 60 chapters—exists solely to empowering women in STEM careers. We do this by creating a global support framework for women at all levels of their career, arming them with the information, the skills and the confidence they need to break down walls. Our innovative coding camps, educational boot camps and conferences are recognized around the world for their world-class caliber and ability to include women from every background.
And today, our work matters more than ever. Women in 2017, even in America, are still struggling to advance in a deeply polarized political climate. Women are harassed daily, we are discriminated against daily, we’re overlooked daily. We’re fighting not just one person or company for a level playing field, but deeply ingrained societal expectations. Events like Havana Nights offer a path to celebrate our achievements throughout the year but also to generate funds for making an even greater difference in 2018.
One magical evening. A year of progress.
Here’s what attendees can expect from Havana Nights: sizzling Cuban salsa music, dancers, a three-course Cuban meal, rum tasting, a cigar-rolling station, and a fast-paced live auction. It’s an evening where some of the biggest names in Silicon Valley join forces to create change, starting with Girls in Tech.
The evening also serves to recognize luminary women in tech. Our honorees this year are Julia Hartz, CEO and co-founder of EventBrite, and Kathy McElliglot, CIO and CTO of McKesson. These women have demonstrated extraordinary leadership and have achieved jaw-dropping accomplishments throughout their careers, helping to pave the path for the next generation of women in tech. We’re incredibly grateful for their leadership and support.
And finally, we couldn’t pull this off without our rock star event sponsors: thank you for your relentless support Nutanix, Cisco and Zuora!
